There’s no “punchline” in this comic strip. Instead, it’s a cold, hard cultural reality that in China, your “rights” to your weekends are not “rights” at all. Weekends in China are frequently “adjusted” to make official holidays “longer” by re-appropriating weekend days.
As per the reaction in this comic, this practice is entirely normal in mainland China.
