We’ve deliberately kept the content of the WeChat dialog related to daily life, with most of the dialog at the elementary level. A few of the vocabulary words are a bit harder (and be sure you understand the grammar points!, and we’ve included those below:

Key Words and Phrases

  1. 长颈鹿 (chángjǐnglù) giraffe

  2. 难喝 (nánhē) unpleasant to drink

  3. 味道 (wèidào) flavor, smell, taste

  4. 喝起来不容易 (hē qǐlai bù róngyì) not easy to drink

  5. 可怜 (kělián) pitiful, pathetic

Grammar Points

These two grammar points are pretty important for understanding the WeChat conversation above.

  1. Expressing "difficult" with "nan" (难)

  2. Direction complement "-qilai" (起来), Used for an Initial Judgement
