Episode 2 of our new WeChat dialog series is here: Animals Use WeChat.

We’ve deliberately kept the content of the WeChat dialog related to daily life, with most of the dialog at the elementary level. A few of the vocabulary words are a bit harder, so we’ve included those below:

Key Words and Phrases

  1. 黑熊 (hēixióng) black bear

  2. 北极熊 (běijíxióng ) polar bear (literally, “north pole bear”)

  3. 在干嘛 (zài gànmá) doing what, a more casual way to say 在做什么 (zài zuò shénme)

  4. 冬眠 (dōngmián) hibernation

  5. 回 (huí) to reply to (a WeChat message), a shorter version of 回复 (huífù)

  6. 额 (é) just a sound effect to indicate embarrassment here
